Say it with flowers. For centuries, flowers have stood in for words and been used to transmit coded and symbolic messages. A rose, it seems, is not just a rose.
For hundreds of years, fashion has drawn from the beauty and femininity of flowers. And in October 2016 The Fashion Mall at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City was transformed into a spectacle of spring blooms for the inaugural Spring Shopping Day, Fashion Meets Flowers.
Immersing shoppers in a whimsical landscape, the installation featured over 800 handmade paper flowers, interspersed with tags identifying the meanings of flowers, with suspended eucalypt branches and a melodic soundscape.
Fashion Meets Flowers | Lakeside Joondalup installation was the third in a series by Lommerse and Curnow. The initial installation The Language of Flowers was selected for FORM’s urban art festival, PUBLIC2016 Platform.
